Cautious Optimism is going on a short hiatus
Liza and I are heading to the hospital tomorrow morning to welcome our second baby into the world. We’re pretty damn excited.
A few notes:
Plans: This newsletter is going on hiatus for a week or so. I fully intend on easing my way back into writing on the double. Not that I intend to shirk my parental responsibilities — the opposite, in fact. I learned when Ada was a newborn that doing some writing helps keep myself balanced.
So, expect the newsletter to return in due course, albeit in a more deranged and sleep-deprived fashion for a time.
If you are a TWiST listener, I plan on easing my way back onto the program after things are settled down at home.
Thanks: The reason why I can be a little selfish and quickly circle back to writing CO in at least a limited fashion — and my day job after another week or two —is the huge array of people who help Liza and I. Susan our nanny, who is incredible. My mother in law, who has put more time and effort and love into our first daughter than I could have ever hoped for, let alone expected. My parents intend to fly in. The list goes on. Friends, family, the whole village. Thank you.
And with that, I am off to start collecting charging cables for phones and basinet lights and socks and baby socks and hats and baby hats. Hugs, love, and back soon. — Alex
