Writing this while behind on sleep, so there may be a typo or four. Please send all corrections to Kevin Liu. — Alex Ada has arrived. She broached the world around 3:30 pm last Friday, making it home Monday afternoon. The intervening time was a crash course in baby care. Liza, recovering from major surgery — C-Sections are
Wow wow wow! Little Ada is a precious gem. I'm sorry that the process was so harrowing, but you're right, Liza is a badass. I hope her recovery goes smoothly. Your comment about Sonos share price was so classically Alex, hilarious.
I remember how scary decels were, and we didn’t have anything like what you went through…so major props to you, dad, for your part keeping everything level. And that picture of your skin to skin with Ada is everything. There is no feeing like it…enjoy every second. (Even the not so enjoyable ones)
Alex--Thank you for sharing. And congratulations on welcoming Ada. One of the most profound things about becoming a parent is the sudden realization of how fragile we are--and how connected. I'm so glad that everyone is healthy and home.
Alex, First, huge sigh of relief that Ada and Liza are now doing well. I can't imagine how frightening the experience must have been. Second, thank you, thank you for sharing your perspective on the birth process. You are quite right; as a society we tend to grossly underplay its dangers. And, last but not least, though I've never met either of you, based on your writing, I believe you and Liza will be amazing parents. Congrats! Amie P.S. I started following you on Twitter bc I love your TC articles and especially your "voice". I later began subscribing to "Alex Writes" because you write honestly about challenges, and have a great wit and sense of humor.
Read this and I'm crying. (There, I said it.) I can't not. The love here is a bludgeon of goodness. So happy for Liza, Ada and you. Thanks for sharing this. Need anything at all, give a shout
Thanks for writing this. I’m sorry you all had to go through it but glad Ada is doing well and out in the world! Good thing to know that no matter how many books you read or classes you attend, there’s no way to be fully prepared for all the things that could happen.

Congratulations to all three of you!
